Sadly, a good sized chunk are spam accounts. We try to trim them as we spot them.

Huh, I looked everywhere (I thought) before posting this question which I've now answered for myself ... 13,296 Members

Oh dear :scream:

Your post prompted me to search for the Linux based forum with the most registered members:

LinuxQuestions.org has the most registered members, with over 561,885 members as of May 2024.

They even have a ZorinOS section under Distributions.

You're on the ball, it would seem that the Zorin forum is safe (for now) according to OfCom's "rules" as Zorin Forum would come under Category 2B which requires 3 million UK users to come under their "rules". So for now this forum is safe from the tyranny of King George er, I meant Charles

Good interview conducted by Australian Parliamentary Senator Alex Antic ...
" Paul G Conlon - Digital ID: Lessons from History"

Paul G. Conlon is a senior engineer with expertise in electronic engineering, information technology, and digital identity systems, as well as the author of 'Citizen One: The Case Against Digital Identity'.

In 'Citizen One', Paul makes a case against centralised digital IDs by using his technical understanding and family history of living in 1930s-40s Germany to highlight how such systems enable state control over the lives of citizens. He warns that while these systems are introduced on the basis of safety and convenience they pose serious threats to privacy and freedom.

On this episode of Based, Senator Antic and Paul G. Conlon discuss the centralised identity system, what we can learn from that historical experience, and the many devils in the details of centralised digital ID.

And to complete the 1984 scenario are the new Border ID requirements for non EU residents, which require you to provide your fingerprints. How long before hackers get hold of finger print data, print out embossed prints, use tape to take an image and leave at crime scenes for innocents to be charged with a crime they did not commit.
