He must stick with Zorin OS 15.3 lite 32 bit as Zorin OS 16 does not have 32 bit support.
Zorin 15 is supported until April of 2023.

It may be due to faulty hard disk then. A damaged sector would corrupt files contained within it.

I use Unetbootin, instead. Balena Etcher is also known for damaging USB sticks.
