So i tried to free up some space and i decided to clear the cache from Sober(Roblox) using the terminal and....
I deleted everything...
The home folder is gone and everything else its like i reinstalled Zorin but without the trash, home, desktop etc.
Its totally fine tho, because i knew i could get wrong so i made some backups and i dont really use it for anything important like school. I just some lost some Images, themes, icons.
So i just went back from windows and opened Zorin. everything came back, except things that i installed (themes, icons, images, etc). Oh and some installed apps did remain(Tweaks, osu, Sober, Heroic)
And yes ive learned my lessons now. I should be more careful with the terminal, and its not that simple. Anyway, I asked Gemini on how to delete the Sober cache and this is what they told me
rm -rf ~/.config/vinegarhq/Sober/cache/*
maybe i made a mistake or idk. Anyway does this mean im back to normal?
But isn't that the same command that Gemini offered?
At any rate, it's completely fine to delete cached files, but you have to keep in mind that it may include thumbnails, shortcuts, and things like that. I'm not very familiar with Wine or Roblox so Idon't know what kind of files it deleted, but you should be safe
I have no doubt there was an error in the command you placed in terminal.
The one you posted should be fine. So it must differ from the one you actually used.
That being said: If a user removed a folder like ~/.config or ~/Documents, upon next boot a new default version will be created.
The contents, however, will be lost. This is one method of quickly restoring to default.
But if you have a lot of personal configurations; you would need to set them back up.
What we generally do is move config directory to a backup, first:
mv ~/.config ~/.config-bk
This way, restoring all your configurations is as easy as replacing the newly created default config with the old one, or copying over the specific configs you still want...
