I'd like to position the taskbar on the left and have text displayed on the tabs. I want it to look like Windows. I can set the taskbar to appear on the left in Zorin, but there are some issues:

Hm, I've never noticed that the Zorin taskbar looks so strange when you set it to the left or right side. It seems not to be possible to setup a good look with the normal panel settings.
The width of the panel is always too thick and the Zorin icon, too.
At tab behavior there is an option "Don't group apps" and there you can click on the cogwheel to set the max width. But when you reduce it you can't read the labels of the apps.
There is also no option to set the icons to left-aligned.
Perhaps try it with the gnome extension "Dash to panel" instead. I'm not sure if that helps. Disable the Zorin taskbar in the extension manager (you can install it with sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-manager) before you install the dash to panel extension.
It seems to be because of layout 2 (= ungroup apps), in layout 1 the look is much better.
Probably Zorin Taskbar - and probably Dash to Panel as well - aren't designed for vertical arrangement in combination with the "Ungroup Applications" setting. So far, I haven't found any indication anywhere that it's possible to arrange the app labels vertically instead of horizontally, which would make it easier to reduce the width of the bar. I'll take a look tomorrow at Dash to panel if it is possible there.
Edit: It doesn´t help to install Dash to panel. It is not really better with it. The best is to use layout 1 in Zorin appearance with disabled ungroup apps function.
If you like to have a small vertical taskbar with vertical text and ungrouped apps, you can give Zorin Lite a try, there it is possible by default (the black arrow is because of a distrosea live session):
