I installed the beta and could not get a samba share to give me access. It appears that apparmor is not configured properly for samba use. I disabled apparmor to allow samba to work properly. This is not the ideal solution however.
I, too, have had troubles with Apparmor on Zorin OS 18 Beta.
Canonical hardened it a bit in 24.04 and this carries over to Zorin OS 18 - which is now requiring we create AppArmor profiles for some applications we launch.
Since one of my SSDs was broken, after replacing it, I had the opportunity to try out Zorin 18 on my old desktop. Everything I need works perfectly, except for one thing: the Samba server. I couldn't get smbd to work the way it currently does on Zorin 17. The shares are only working with my home directory and /tmp. Everything else results in NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED. Disabling AppArmore did not help. I wasted quite a bit of time on this, so I can't summarize it all here. I just wanted to mention it briefly; if anyone else had a similar problem and solved it, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll wait for an update.
Thanks
H.
Problem solved. Must have been my fault, I activated/deactivated something in the iptables entries and suddenly it worked ![]()
