Hi, I'm using Zorin OS 17.2 on my Lenovo ThinkPad e14 gen 3 (20YES00200) with 8 GB RAM. I did a fresh install a couple of days back, with a seperate /home partition.
I'm facing a random closing of apps that I'm using. It happened with files and MEGA X (which is installed from a deb file). It is so random and I had to redo my work as I had not saved my work. I feel it is related to the Zorin because the same issue has been faced multiple times on the 'Files'.
Is it a known bug in the latest release? and is there a solution for this?
Welcome to the Forum!
Did You take a Look in the Logs if there are any Errors?
Is Your System running in Wayland or Xorg?
You can also start programs from the terminal, simply open a new terminal window and run the name of the program. This may reveal any potential issues even before they actually happen.
Note that not all programs are actually called in the same way in which they are labeled (for human friendliness). For example, FIles is actually called nautilus
.
It would be useful to narrow down the problem and know which programs crash, and if there's some specific pattern to it (a combination of simultaneous programs running, a particular operation, etc.)
It is running on Wayland.
Then try it with changing to Xorg. To do that go to the Login Screen and click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. It is important that it appears! when it is appeared, you should see in the bottom right corner a Gear Icon. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in and test if it works.
