Hi, After many false steps, I stumbled upon the solution. Although I'm using a laptop, with a single screen, the default setting in Screen Display is for Join(ed) Displays. Brave was displaying on a phantom display. When I eventually discovered that and changed to Single Display, LO! I had a functioning browser.
