Apps won't download

Hi all,
I'm having problems downloading apps from the app store on Zorin 16 Core. For example, I was trying to install VLC after I just did a fresh install today, and the progress bar was just stuck at 0%. My internet is slow, so I pressed the cancel button so I could try again. However, instead of letting me try again, it said that the app was downloaded. I checked in the "Sound and Video" section of the start menu and, sure enough, it wasn't there; when I pressed launch, nothing happened.

So, I tried again with Brave Browser, which got suck at 99% and refused to go any father.

I seriously don't know what to do. I know Zorin 16 just came out only a couple of weeks ago, so I expect that they haven't ironed out all the bugs yet. Should I just wait until installs work again? If not, how do I reset the VLC install? It wont let me remove it.

You say your internet is slow, but I want to know how slow. There is a minimum requirement for downloading software to work, so lets see what your speeds are.

I would be more patient. I have 1k/1k internet and sometimes downloading a flatpack or a snap takes couple of minutes. It seems to be stuck at 0% or even 99%, then suddenly it is there.

Yes, with my internet I've grown accustomed to being very patient with my internet.

However, the main problem is that, when I try to remove VLC, it wont let me; just says error.

13MB while slow, passes the minimum requirements for downloading software, which I believe is around 5MB. So your actual downloading speed while downloading a file, is probably around 500KB to 1MB per second. So yes, slow, but doable!

Can you please open a terminal with ctrl+alt+t and enter in

sudo apt --fix-broken install
