Gnome on Clear Linux. Using 2GB RAM.
Without any loading background software.
Me, using 16lite Cinnamon.
I started using Cinnamon because the original Zorin xfce got bricked somehow. I dont know how to get it back and running like it should, tried to find a solution myself without reinstalling. I never had to install Cinnamon, it was just there. I could choose it because it was already in the list of DE's.
I know there must be a cli command to get the original zorin xfce back, but I could not find it, anyone? Please?
sudo apt install --reinstall zorin-os-lite-desktop
Zorin OS does not include Cinnamon Desktop. It must be installed by the user.
Then I must have done something wrong, though I dunno what it was, but thanks!
Maybe, or forgotten something you had tried out - which I know I often do...
Until it starts using 200-500MB memory.
Hmmmm....I did not realise that. I would probably check that the next time I use it.
It starts using it after boot like gnome-software and it doesn't stop after app exit just like gnome-software
I installed 16 lite on an old work PC about a week ago. I needed a system for server management, and 16 lite does everything I need for that
I'm using it on my old laptop. I playing Half-Life on it :Pᅠ
Are you kidding? A lot of people use Lite, because frankly it's the best XFCE version out there, IMO. They just don't come on the forum too much because there's no issues with it...lol
I am back on the xfce DE. Works faster on my 4gig laptop. But Cinnamon looks better imho, it's personal, I know. Thanks a lot, again.
So xfce is better and people not complain?
Ok. I found some pc not old not modern. Test Zorin on another pc to start.
It will be more fair play about my words working out from the box and daily driver.
New to the forum
I am an old arch user as I'm lazy and don't have the time to keep my system updated for breakages. Endeavour OS is good but same rules apply and I didn't agree with some policies of Manjaro
As a podcaster and blogger Zorin Pro gives me what I need as I need it without the need for messing around with files on each fresh install
I hate the gnome desktop but I live with it due to certain integrations
I have however put pro lite on friends old laptops that where running Win7
I have chosen to sign up to the forums to help anyone that I can, recommend the great product that is Zorin for switching over new users the only feature I would want is a kernel picker like in Linux mint as I always force to show grub and like to use the latest kernel with a LTS as a backup
welcome justinc, we are happy to be here
That's great
