I've just installed Zorin 18 Core (fresh, no upgrade) on a new laptop and installed audacious, and the default UI works, but once I switch it to WinAmp UI (the UI I use) it breaks.
Now I had no problems with it on Zorin 17 Pro, so figured it might be either a Pro file that is pre-installed or something is wrong with Zorin 18.
Loaded Zorin 17.3 Core on the same laptop and Audacious works in WinAmp mode.
So something is wrong with Zorin 18 and Audacious, like how Play on Linux is really broken in Zorin 17 and not Zorin 16.
I'll see if the bug pops around again after upgrading from 17 to 18.
If the bug disappears it means some files are missing in the Zorin 18 image.

well you were on a differnt kernel on 17 vs 18. Have you updated the install and restarted to see if it works? or have you done that and its still not working well in winamp mode? are you in wayland vs X11? wayland dont work well with that mode
to change to x11 log out then click area to enter password look to bottom right for a gear click it and use zorin desktop in xorg and see if that gets it working correctly

I used to use Audacious exclusively and I also used it in Winamp mode, on 15, 16 and on 17.
Recently I switched to Exaile.
So, I just installed Audacious from the terminal and am pleased to see it has been updated to a more current version. Opening the WinAmp appearance works, as well.
Too bad I do not have my old Azenis Winamp skin...
What this tells me is likely a Graphics rendering issue. As Wesoliv suggests- a different kernel may help if you are on AMD GPU.
Otherwise, can you post the terminal output for
sudo lshw -C video

Did I just set Xorg as a default when logging in using that method?

Yes once you change it to xorg it will stay there till you change it back
so if that fixed it give a solution to me...and Thanks...glad it helped get it working...

I don't bother with skins.
The main reason I use Audacious is it allows me to use ALSA in sound settings so I get the benefit from my Logitech Surround sound system.
If I am in psychedelic mood, I use Qmmp as it is the only player that stilll uses ProjectM visualisations since Clementine sadly dropped it.

Played with Zorin 18 some more and NightLight was broken, touchscreen was broken (could not calibrate it at all and broke the distro in the process when I tried),
So going to Zorin 17 since it seems to work best and not buggy

Well that happens might be a good idea the install time shift. then create a snapshot, so when things go wrong you can "timeshift" back to before all the trouble. I have it as well as rescuezilla to clone my OS to an external drive so if it goes reall really wrong i can just clone that drive back to main drive and im up and running in 10 mins vs a total reinstall
