Hi there - it's me gain.
Now I identified a problem with the audio via HDMI on my Lenovo B40-30 aio pc. When I select HDMI everything is quit.
I tried all trick I found in several forums with no result.
I took the installation usb stick and startet it - it offers to try Zorin - and guess what? Perfect sound via hdmi.
ok try another ssd and make a new blank install. After restart - no sound via hdmi! - Screen output is working perfect.
What is going wrong during the installation? The same for Zorin 17 Pro and Core.
Thanks for a hint.
Is the HDMI Audio Output available in the Settings? Did you tried it with PulseAudio Volume control? It is a Tool for set up Audio Output and Input. You can install it with sudo apt install pavucontrol

hdmi is available and if i select, it becomes quiet. I tried pavucontrol (was installed) - no result. it is not on mute.
What is different on the live-system? HDMI audio is working perfect with the installation stick.
What kernel are you running if you do a uname -r
? If it's 6.8, I wonder if the iso is updated to use 6.8 yet. I actually havent tried a more recent iso, so idk. But that's just something that might be different.
Edit: if this were the case, you could boot from the older 6.5 kernel and see if that solves the issue for you
It is 6.8.0-40-generic. The installation usb stick with the live system has 6.5.0-35-generic.
Maybe that is a possibility - how can I boot in a different Kernel (sorry for the stupid question - I am a newbee)
Thank you!
You go to the GRUB Menu and there You choose the Option ''Advanced Options for Zorin'' and there You choose the one with the 6.5 Kernel.
Thank you both - found it meanwhile. AND - the old Kernel solved the audio issue!!!!!
But - What will I miss in future using an old Kernel?
How should I proceed with updats?
Or will the Kernel issue be fixed in the next versions?
But for now - thank you again! I'll try around.

Sorry I should have said how to get to the older kernel when I said that originally, my bad.
As for what you would miss in newer kernels, as long as everything's working properly for you now, not much. You should most likely just update as per usual, and if need be, you can go back to the old version. Presumably this may be an issue that gets fixed when the newer kernel version gets some patches (newer kernels have a tendency to sometimes make something different that causes something unthought of not to work).
