Background application icons do not appear in the toolbar

I don't know what silly thing I did now, but I don't get app icons in the background anymore.
And I'm sure I gave them permission to run in the background.

Two quick easy recommendations I would try.

1. Restart the computer if you haven’t.

2. Try changing the layout to a different one and then changing it back. If it is a UI issue this is liable to fix it.

well, the second solution worked for me, but only for 2 applications, the discord logo still does not appear.
(it turns out it was a problem with an extension and the tweaks application)
