I must sayed newest ubuntu is near the same what Zorin but Zorin have a more desktop.
In ubuntu don't working many things and snap package doing this system slowly.
When Garuda has a Live Mode, You could start it on a USB Stick in Live Mode. Then search for the Icons and the Background Pictures and copy them on the Desktop and then put them on another USB Stick or go through the File Manager to Your installed System and move the Stuff to it.
I remember the fun I had with Sabayon 4.0 - writing messages on screen with fire using a setting in Compiz ... and also having puddles appear on screen, cleared by magic windscreen wipers!
