There are several threads, the latest being Dec 2023. Some say look in Software (it's not there), others say use Flatpack, and yet others say don't use Flatpack. I have the Zorin OS Pro 17.3.
sudo apt install thunderbird
The easiest way
I've switched to BetterBird which appears to be a slightly improved option. I just downloaded it and double clicked like it was a windows app. Then I imported the saved profile.
I fully endorse this suggestion.
A few questions:
-Does BB install the same way with Proton Bridge?
-If I start out with a clean install of Betterbird, how would I move over the emails that I have in my TB account?
-If I start out with TB, do I have to keep it around if I install BB?
-Is it any closer to Eudora than TB in its features? I went to TB only because I couldn't get Eudora to work in Windows anymore. Nothing, but nothing has the features Eudora had, but Thunderbird was the best of a list of bad options.
Yes to Proton Bridge
The emails are really in the Proton, yahoo, gmail or whatever accounts not in TB or BB. Just import your profile file or just go add the accounts like you did when you set up TB.
You can keep TB around if you want so you can go back or not - your choice. I've still got it there but haven't used it.
Sorry, not familiar with Eudora
