Zorin 18 was working but failed to boot after I ran Windows 10 and gave the error "ZSTD - compressed data is corrupt System Halted" After a few fixes failed I completely reinstalled this time a single Zorin installation with no other operating system. It appeared to work well but I still get the same error.
ZSTD - compressed data is corrupt on boot usually means the initramfs or the kernel image on disk got trashed.
from a live usb:
sudo fsck -f /dev/sdXN
(replace with your root partition)
then remount and rebuild:
sudo mount /dev/sdXN /mnt
sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev
sudo mount --bind /proc /mnt/proc
sudo mount --bind /sys /mnt/sys
sudo chroot /mnt
update-initramfs -u -k all
update-grub
exit
sudo reboot
check smart on that drive too. repeated zstd corrupt after a clean reinstall often points at a dying disk writing garbage into /boot.
