Hi all,
using Zorin OS for couple of weeks for now.
I've installed Brave browser as my main internet browser.
After an update today/yesterday Brave is totally removed from my dash bar.
And I cannot find it any more at the applications overview.
I'm only able to launch it via software and the installed tab.
That's weird right? I've tried logging in via Xorg, but that does not make sense. It feels like it's totally removed from my OS, but i can run it via installed software LOL. I've used flatpack to install brave before.
It's also not my default webbrowser anymore... that's weird not?
Somebody got also this problem? Maybe it's already a known problem?
Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the Forum!
So, to be clear here: Is Brave now installed as Flatpak or is it installed as the default .deb Package? And this Update: Was it for the Flatpak or the .deb Version?
When the .deb Version is installed maybe try sudo apt reinstall brave-browser and see if it generates the Icons again.
Hi there,
brave was installed as Flatpack, the update was also as Flatpack. I've uninstalled brave and chosed the Zorin OS package version via the software app. Now it's back. Maybe there is a problem with the Flatpack version... Because I've got also an update a few days ago with a new version of Gnome? Maybe both don't match each other. For now the solution is to install the Zorin OS version via the software application.
I'm curious if there a more people with the same problem.

ZorinOS ships with Brave browser as default. Was there a reason to install Flatpak version instead of the original Zorin packaged Brave browser?
Was it called ''Gnome Application Platform Version''? If yes, this isn't a new Gnome Version. This is a runtime Environment Dependency for Flatpaks. And that should affect it. Why that happened ... I don't know to be honest.
Tried Brave from the beginning, switched to another browser and was not satisfied with that one. So went back to Brave. But installed the Flatpak version and not the Zorin OS version via the software application/store.

Yep, something called like that indeed. Hmm i've learned from this case
When installing new software check if there is a 'Zorin-package-version' available ;).
