Hi guys, how are you doing?
So, as te tittle says that is my problem. I have done a fresh install of zorin core on a fresh ssd as well, also zorin is my only os installed. Secure boot disabled. My graphics card is kind old, an amd R9 380, and I am not using a monitor per se, it is a TV monitor LG. My graphics cards is connected to it through hdmi 2.0 Cable (brand New). The problema starts here:
When I turn on my PC it runs its first boot, The system Then launches that standard boot/bios mobo screen at a 1360x768 which is also its "default resolution", than The secction/user screen appears in the same resolution, but The monitor can handle UP to 1080p, which is The resolution I post set UP in display configuration and 60Hz, so The first boot runs perflectly, until I have to reboot for whatever reason, script run, driver update or Just testin. When it reboot back The screen do not display mobo screen, and zorin appears with 640x480 resolution with no possibiliy tô change. If I turn off than On my TV monitor, I get The no singnal message, It only get back again on its trails when I disconnect The Cable from The graphics card and reconnect again, it fixes The weid resolution, what could it be? I need help
Are you on AMDGPU Or Radeon driver?
Welcome to the Forum!
So, to understand that right: When You are logged in, the Resolution works fine. But when the System boots up, the Resolution is low. And it is also low on the Login Screen. Is that right?
First boot of the Day works fine like wine, when I First plug everything into power connection and hit The power button. If I have to reboot The system for whatever reason, when it boots back, everything messes UP. In order to fix it, I have tô shut everything down, remove from power then plug back into power and turn it on again.
I have read that "OS failing to read the monitor's EDID, causing low resolution or scaling problemas", and I might have seen some EDID error on terminal while I was trying tô figure out if either amdgpu or radeon driver I am using. That said, I replaced my TV monitor to an old LG flatron vga monitor, connected The monitor tô my gpu using an Hdmi tô vga adapter, and guess what? Everything workrd normal, no issues, no broken resolution.
So, do You use this now?
Until I find The solution for the other display, which is bigger In size and resolution, also have buildt in speakers
Also, I am using Wayland session, not Xorg, Wayland is the only one which at first is capable of display 1080p, Xorg don't even give me te option to select this resolution
Well, I would have some Ideas what You could try but it needs to use the Terminal. And if it works isn't sure. Do You want try it?
