Cairo-dock issues

Hi, I wanted to give cairo-dock a shot.
Installed it and the fallback via software center.
All I see is an empty box (no icons) requesting to install missing extensions or plug-ins. Very similar to this picture: Cairo Dock plugins missing - Solus Forum
Anybody an idea or hint what to try?

Does Your System runs in Wayland or X11/Xorg? You can check that in Settings>About. When there stands, that it is in Wayland Mode, I would suggest to switch to Xorg.

To do that, go to the Login Screen (not the Lock Screen). Simply reboot for that. On the Login Screen, click on your Profile so that the Password Field appears. It has to be appeared. When it is appeared, you should see a Gear Icon in the bottom right Corner. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in and look if the Dock works.

Yes, I run Zorin in Xorg.
Cairo still stated that plug-ins (Erweiterungen) are missing.
Thus, Gemini is my friend:

  1. 1. Update the package list:
  • Open a terminal.
  • Run the command sudo apt-get update to refresh the list of available packages.
  • If prompted for your password, enter it.
  1. 2. Install Cairo Dock and its plug-ins:
  • In the same terminal, run the command sudo apt-get install cairo-dock cairo-dock-plug-ins.
  • If prompted for your password, enter it.
  • This will install both the main Cairo Dock application and the necessary plug-ins for extensions.

Sadly Cairo-Dock isn't the same any more. I did manage to install it briefly on PCLOS Debian KDE, but most of the plugins for Cairo-Dock don't work any more. :face_exhaling:

The good old days:

Any other dock that you would recommend.
I read today that latte-dock also stopped.

You could give Plank a whirl.

Besides @swarfendor437's Suggestion with Plank (what runs only on Xorg as far as I know), there would be the Gnome Extension Dash To Dock.
