Can’t boot up after newly installed 17.1 Core

First of all, please provide relevant system information when asking for help, so that other users have more to go on. If you're lucky, someone who has experienced the same problem will immediately spot it and offer you the solution, or perhaps know what not to suggest based on your hardware and setup. For example:

  • brand and model of:
    • motherboard / laptop
    • CPU
    • graphics
  • if you're dual-booting, and what OSes you have if so
  • partition layout of the drive Zorin is installed on

Also, what other output was immediately above and below the error line you have quoted?

As for potential solutions, please check your BIOS and disable Secure Boot if it's on, as well as any sort of "fast boot" feature. If you're dual-booting Windows, boot into it and also disable "fast startup".

If that doesn't help, then according to this Ask Ubuntu thread it could be caused by improperly configured swap. Please post the oputput of grep -i swap /etc/fstab to see if you have multiple swap configured - there should only be one.

That said, the thread also has a lot of people claiming various other causes for this type of error, ranging from damaged GPU power connectors to full HDDs to needing a BIOS update that you can work through to check in your PC - though be careful in the latter case, updating the BIOS is somehow still a risky procedure even in modern times.
