I've successfully set up a Windows 10 VM on my laptop using Boxes, but when I try to access the spice-spaces website to install Spice Guest Tools to get the resolution right, I can't open the website. I've tried it on 2 browsers and it times out and won't let me access it.
Do You get any Error Messages? Did You disabled Browser Extensions? Do You use a VPN?
Thanks for your reply. I've just checked again and suddenly it worked, so all is well. I have installed it. I did try disabling the VPN before but it didn't help. It was enabled when it worked. Perhaps the site was busy? Anyway all seems OK now.
If you want a decent screen resolution then use Virt-Manager - the graphics are that good it looks like a bare-metal install.
This is all new and incomprehensible to me, I'm afraid. I don't know what Virt-Manager is, or how to use it. Any answers have to be real baby steps for me, as I've never heard of any of this before!
Hi. I will attempt to do a video for you by creating virt-manager in a virrt-manager VM, yes that is correct, you can create VM's within a VM!
In the meantime, take a look at any of my videos on Vimeo.com such as this one:
I have completely uninstalled the Boxes version and installed Virtual Machine Manager and everything is working fine! Thank you for your help. I am still messing around trying to get the resolution to match the Linux version, and haven't yet managed copying and pasting between the two and don't know how that works. The external hard drive is up and recognised and I can certainly use that for transferring stuff back and forth for now. I think this is going to be great!
