Can't change input method/keyboard in Text Editor, Notepad Next

Hi, I have the google pinyin keyboard installed, it is working fine everywhere else apparently (i.e. browser, vscode, libreoffice etc), for example 如此. However I simply could not get the input method to change in Text Editor and Notepad Next. Is there any reason/resolution on this?

Thanks.

In which package format are the editors installed? You could try another package format to see if it works then, e.g. the AppImage of Notepad Next (you can download it from github).

Do you refer to the preinstalled gnome text editor?

"Text Editor" came with Zorin os installation, Notepad Next installed from Zorin's Software store.

I'm not sure if it may help to reboot or to switch to Xorg for testing if you are on Wayland. At loginscreen click on your profile then a cog wheal appears at the bottom right corner where you can switch between Xorg and Wayland.

Welcome to the Forum!

Normally it should take the Keyboard Settings that is set for the System. Do You have set up the Language in Settings>Keyboard?

The machine has been rebooted multiple times since I first noticed the problem. I am not on Wayland...
