Cheapo 5.1 Ext. USB audio that does work

Hi there
In case you are looking for a cheap ext. audio card, I can conform the below two are working fine with 17.3 Pro, and without any need for extra drivers/software. Just plug'n'play.

Same thing..

there are loads of like-alikes, at very different prices.

OR this one.

better build Q, smaller unit, maybe a better noise floor.

The only thing to look out for is that the in-built mixer (alsamixer) does not label the 5.1 channels correctly.

CM-Audio

Cubilux

I had a nice internal 5.1 Envy24 sound card, but couldn’t get Zorin to play out the extra channels, so I resorted to the easy option.

I found that Audacious plays decent 5.1 audio on your Z pc, using the above USB sound cards. Make sure set the output plugin in the Audacious settings to "SDL Output".
