How can I change the window appearance of cinnamon desktop in Zorin lite? I can´t choose between different themes for windows frames, there is only the "default" one. I have installed cinnamon and cinnamon-core. Do I need to install the whole cinnamon-desktop to get more themes for the window appearance?
I'm fascinated by how smoothly Cinnamon runs on my 4 GiB VM, and this time there were no installation problems like with LXQT and Mint-Tools. I just don't like the gtk theme at all, but I don't know how to change it. Only some apps as brave and texteditor look nice and have a grey separate topbar.
It was a little difficult to make the desktop icons of desktop shortcuts of apps visible. They were displayed in the desktop folder, but not on the screen. It only worked when I added the command "nemo-desktop" to autostart, or, I found out later, alternatively, used a gsettings terminal command: gsettings set org.nemo.desktop show-desktop-icons true
You mean that You have the same wide Variety like on Linux Mint? I'm not quite sure but I think when You only install the default Cinnamon Desktop, You only get the default Themes. So, You would have to add an own Theme.
When You want use Cinnamon, maybe Linux Mint/LMDE is the better Choice.
Nemo runs really well on cinnamon. How is it possible to go to a special folder, e.g. when I click on filesystem and want to go to folder "usr". When I enter "u" nemo doesn't go to letter u.
Yes, I thought I also get the mint themes. Do I have to download a theme that is special for cinnamon desktop? Then it is clear why the Zorin themes don't work or are not shown.
The search does nothing in nemo. I'll take a closer look tomorrow, but I found no setting that I could turn on. Maybe the search function of nemo has been removed recently and I only reinstalled nemo (because it disappeared) and checked nemo-fileroller.
The file search works when I enter something in the top taskbar of Nemo at icon magnifying glass.
However, until recently, it was possible to jump to a specific folder in a directory with Nemo, e.g., jump to /usr/ in the file system directory, by simply typing the first letter (e.g., u). I have lost this function and do not know how to get it back or which package I need to install to do so. It works with Nautilus and Thunar, but not with Nemo anymore. It is such a useful function and I'd like to have it back.
Pressing enter after entering the letter doesn't help.
Is it possible to launch apps from taskbar with doubleclick? There are always opened two instances of the app when I doubleclick, which doesn't happen in XFCE and gnome. I'd like to use doubleclick but open one instance/window of the app.
"To enable double-click behavior for taskbar icons in the Cinnamon desktop environment, you can adjust the double-click settings. Navigate to the Mouse and Touchpad settings, where you will find the "Double Click Timeout" option at the bottom of the panel. Adjusting this setting can resolve issues where single-clicking does not open applications, effectively enabling double-click functionality for taskbar icons.
This setting controls the time interval between clicks that defines a double-click, and modifying it can help achieve the desired behavior."
On a side note, the whole premise of the taskbar is to launch apps with a single click.
By installing themes for cinnamon desktop it was possible to change the look of the windows so that they look nice. Now I need to find a icon theme to get another color for the folders which fits to the theme.
