I ran a AV scan on my main PC and got 149 "Possible Threats". Lots have to do with Wine or Bottles and also Libreoffice. The output is gibberish to me, How do I identify the possibles from the positives? 149 times.
That's why I don't use clamTK. It's not worth the time.
PUA stands for Potentially Unwanted Applications - this is one area of ClamAV that gives false positives - it also does this in Windows, it has never worked properly. The general advice is to turn off scanning for PUA's which you can do on the interface.
So uncheck the PUA box in settings:
Yep, for same reason, I have disabled scanning PUA's, its a bunch of BS. I'm only concerned with virus's, trojans, malware, root kits. Basically, real stuff that is harmful.
True. I tend to ignore them, but have not turned PUA checking off myself.
not really a false reading, more like telling you there's stuff bundled with it you may not be quite aware of (like macros with libreoffice, which the scanner isn't aware office is legit).
if the same software came from a third party source, then a PUA warning would be serious
The PUA's for LibreOffice, I have, too. That is only a Macro Warning. For the Wine Thing, I can't say something. Because it is for Windows Stuff, it might be detected as ''something''.
Wine is the one I would most worry about, because WINDOWS lol.
But at the end of the day I ended up accidentally closing the window with the results. But I couldn't figure out what was safe and what wasn't anyway. The name of most Linux files look like they could be malware when you come from windows. ![]()
Well, the screenshot showed nothing of any concern...
If you have ClamTK, you can easily look at History results of past scans.
Like @zabadabadoo already wrote, You can take a Look at this again because it is saved. You open ClamTk and click here:
And in the the opening Window, You see the Reports which You can show:
Thanks, I had looked for a log file. One question, I see a quarantine option but no way to mark something as safe or ignore. Am I just not seeing it?
When You have the List with Results, You click on one and then at the bottom left on the Quarantine Button:
