Have you installed clamav from the repositories as well?
it was working yesterday i have removed all and reinstalled clamav without the UI and got it working and have it scanning but the UI fails not sure what happened but clamav is functioning
I do remember an update to it yesterday...wondering if there was an error in the new update? Hmm that maybe it clamtk is working fine and i can scan with it as well
Do You use the Flatpak?
yes was one in the software store @Ponce-De-Leon
should i install it this way?
ive looked in /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log the clamav and freshclam.log isnt there
is there a way to create the log file?
ok after messing around for quite some time i grabbed the ol clone drive and cloned back to where i made that then removed the clamui before i did anything added in clamtk...restarted system opened clamtk did an update..it did then tryed to run sudo clamscan with the proper stuff after it updated and started running problem has been sloved...thanks all
The Thing is: You use the flatpak Version - and this includes ClamAV as an own Instance. So, the Conmfiguration that Way would be a bit different.
You can try the offered .deb Version and use the Install Instructions for it, yes.
With the .deb Version it is so, that there isn't ClamAV included.
ok this is wierd got out my backup computer it had 6.18.13 liquorix on it updated it to 7.0.6 liquorix restarted it saw it had clamui on it hit update asked for passowrd same as this system but it updated just fine...is running in X11 due to an nvidia vid card main system is in wayland....i loged out then back in under X11 and same error
Its no biggy was updating with freshclam since i came here so im back to old way ..that btw works just fine
Well, to be fair: ClamUI is Version 0.1.X. So, at the Beginning. that it has some Issues isn't surprisingly. But at least there is an Alternative to ClamTK. So, hopefully, it will go it's Way.
ya i have clamTK back in and it works fine in wayland and X11
actually this morning did something wild got out backup computer has the ui on it looked at files area where my main computer has troubles and all the miising files was there so i cloned that computers drive to my main drive and now clamui is working correctly....not sure what caused the files to get removed that it needed...so heres proof that a plan b and a possible c is worth doing in my case rescuezilla to the rescue!!!!!
I was at a client's recently and the versions have been updated since first brought to my notice. Anything from 0.1.5 up appears to be buggy big-time. On other distributions like LMDE 7 it won't even install unless it is 0.1.4 version - all the later versions at point of install fail on a dependency error of Policykit-1.
For clarity I am talking .deb here, but also had issues with Flatpak and AppImage.
Like i said not sure what happened loaded the new database went to bed got up next day went to check database asked for PW and massive errors i tryed to find what was missing and replace it just removed it and went back to old way...then had backup computer out updating it and it worked fine there was same version i had on main so did above stuff and now its working fine....go figure
-
sudo systemctl stop clamav-daemon
-
sudo systemctl stop clamav-freshclam
-
sudo freshclam
-
sudo systemctl start clamav-freshclam
sudo systemctl start clamav-daemon
Which version are you using? I am running a VM of LMDE 7 and it baulks at anything above 0.1.4. The 0.1.4 release does not have all the bells and whistles of later versions like 'audit', but generally, everything works.
I notice there is no way of making clamui look at scanning mails in Evolution - ClamTk was supposed to be able to do it but using some commands I found on a web page just did not follow through (i.e., regarding ClamTk - not ClamUI).
