Do Your Systems are running in Wayland or X11? You could switch between both to check if it behaves different/Better. How did You install it? And what Issues did You experienced? Can You describe it?
I think compiz wouldn't run correctly on gnome. You can install it on Zorin Lite with XFCE desktop. You need X11 for it.
That's an old thread, but it is not better today:
Hello, I use default settings of Zoring installer. How can I verify is if is X11 or Wayland? I tried installing via APT and via flathub, it installs allight I have access to configuration panel, but as soon as I run
compiz --replace
System logs me off
Accually system uses Wayland just noticed.
Didnt realise there is feature build in to Zorin acting qube like, great job, no need to install compiz in this case. thanks
You can go to Settings>About>Info>Systemdetails or open the Terminal and simly type echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE and then You get show Wayland or X11.
You can switch when You go to the Login Screen and there click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. When It is appeared, You should see in the bottom right Corner a Gear Icon. Click on it and there You have 2 Options:
(if installed with Nvidia Driver it can be that You have an Option called ''Zorin Desktop on Wayland'' which makes the Option ''Zorin Desktop'' to the one that is the Xorg one)
Simply click on one of the Options to choose them and then log in. The chosen Option stays until You change it again.
