Hey.
So, I got a new laptop and reinstalled Zorin alongside Windows. Weirdly, when I close the lip, it goes into suspend mode, yeah? But when I open it back up, it just freezes, and I need to force power off to get out of it. For now, I just put it to ignore, but I'm just wondering how to fix it. Additionally, I tried to get hibernate working, and in the logs, I see it trying to hibernate when it's suspending. Is that normal?
Also, I was messing around with the Zorin third-party themes, and the original Zorin themes disappeared for some reason. Honestly, I love the Zorin theme and don't like the system to have an all-dark theme, so I used to select from custom, but now it's gone. For reference, it's from these options:
Man tf did i even do, I was just setting up swap stuff and then I shut it down, ima try to go into recovery mode and then try to repair broken files stuff. Also that's zorin
Was trying to set up hibernate, have 32 ram and somehow fked the system, idk figuring it out rn and yeah ssd pretty sure, got it working... somehow switched to cinnamon eviorment. Honestly so confused right now
Ok, honestly, I never added ubuntu. I don't even know how it came here. I was literally just setting up hibernate (and it worked for the first time) and it just poped up after a restart. But sure, ill do that
There is chosen ''Other''. You have to click on ''Zorin''.
So, what in Detail did You? You wrote that You tried to set up hibernate. But why You installed Cinnamon? Can You explain that with a bit more Details?
For that, there was always the specific themes so for example you could have a dark shell but light applications. Also, I feel so stupid right now... I did install the enviorment earlier but for some reason it didnt activate earlier? Is there a way to remove it?
Yes, you can remove Cinnamon, easily. But your GDM is using the Ubuntu screen, as also noticed by @swarfendor437
Then you feel human, like all the rest of us that dove into a new and unfamiliar operating system and started trying new things - GnuLniux can be versatile and highly configurable.
But it helps to slow down and take note of what you do.
Thanks,
I removed the cinnamon,, which worked, but Zorin now starts in a terminal screen, but under some other form search, I found the command shown in the image, and everything goes back to normal. Weird
GDM is the Login Manager for Zorin - it is the Login Screen. But I would recommend a Reinstalltion, too. I must say. It is definetely easier to start there. But when You get a new USB Stick with Zorin on it, You can start it in the ''Try Zorin'' Mode and then You can over the File Manager go to Your installed System and copy Your Data if You shouldn't have some kind of Back Up.
You don't need to. Linux is a Try Experience, too. I did Experiments, too and then it broks and I had to reinstall it. It is a new System and You have to look what it does. And sometimes it breaks.
