Hi. I installed Z18 fresh, updated it, and then installed Steam, then DayZ and it added the Proton DB, Battleye and the runtimes. I then connected to an official server and was able to play for a while. I was able to play again the next day as well. I didn't play for about a week and the next time I tried to play it would give one of the two following errors:
Warning (0x00040031) You were kicked off the game Login timed out (AuthPlayerLoginState)
Warning (0x000400f0) You were kicked off the game BattlEye (Client not responding)
I verified the files and everything reported as fine. Restarted steam and same errors, usually Login timed out but a few BattlEye errors every so often.
Renamed the Battleye folder and re-verified, it said some files were missing and would be re-downloaded so I exited Steam, restarted and it reinstalled all of the files again.
I got the same errors so I kind of gave up then. I tried again 2 or 3 days later and was able to connect and play again. After a day or so the errors came back and won't stop now.
This is connecting to any official server, low ping or even on my local LAN. When running DAYZ on the same system with Win11 it has no issues whatsoever connecting or playing on all the same servers. (I have 2 local physical DayZ servers running on Win11 and another on another Z18 box.)
Dell Precision T5810 Xeon with an RTX 3050, 16 Gig RAM, 500 Gig SSD.
Would any of the logs be helpful for me to figure out whats happening or is this probably something with Battleye and Linux in general?
Is Steam installed as Flatpak? If yes, I would suggest to download the .deb Version from Steam directly and try it with that:
Because You have a Nvidia Card, I would suggest to try it with switching to Xorg if not already done. to do that, go to the Login Screen. Click there on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. When it is appeared, You should see a Gear Icon in the bottom right Corner. Click on it and choose the Option ''zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in.
What Nvidia Driver do You use? Do You have a Wifi or wired Internet Connection?
DayZ is that multiplayer zombie game isn't it? Likely all your issues, are due to anti-cheat, which says NO to Linux users, its another paid off ploy, to keep gamers using Windows. Your going to have to stay on Windows if you absolutely have to play multiplayer games.
I used to play multiplayer, back in the Red Faction, Quake, Half Life 2 Deathmatch, and Halo 1 days. But then multiplayer got ruined in all the Fortnite, PubG, Apex Legend days, I lost all interest in it, I'm happier being a SP gamer only.
I am running Xorg on a wired LAN, I don't remember the exact Nvidia driver name but it is the proprietary 580 package.
I uninstalled everything Steam and DayZ related and then downloaded and installed the .deb from the Steam website. Ran updates, then installed DayZ.
It has run every time I've tried it! At least a number of times yesterday. I connected and disconnected to multiple servers (Official and Community without mods) and my LAN server and only 1 time out of 20ish it gave the Warning (0x00040031) You were kicked off the game Login timed out (AuthPlayerLoginState) which may have just been a fluke.
I tried it out again today to verify and it's looking good! Able to connect to a few servers and local server.
Thank you for the help, this was pretty much the last thing stopping me from moving from windows completely.
