I have a question about the audio settings on Zorin OS. I'm new to Linux as a whole, and have been having an issue with setting the default audio to the proper device. When set, the device does not remain the same after the computer is restarted. It reverts back to Analog Output for some reason. Is this normal? Is there a way to set the default device in terminal and not have to worry about setting it each time? Any help and advice is appreciated!
I would recommend installing pavu (pulse audio volume control) through software, and then in that you can change your default options, as well as tweak the configuration of other devices so as to try to get them not taking priority over what you want to be main.
Thanks for your recommendation! I was able to download it from the Software store but couldn't find anything within the app that explicitly allows me to set the default device, but it did give me the option for "fallback" and I set it to my usual audio output device. Hopefully it works
I understand the annoyance. When I try using Core, it often comes and brings along the audio selection issues every time. That's why in pavu, you can go to the configuration page, and change the configurations of your audio such that the audio sources you don't want functioning won't be there.
For example, this is my microphone, which by default will act as both audio IN and OUT (duplex). Well on Core this will lead to audio OUT randomly selecting the microphone. But if I disable it to be "Audio In" ONLY, then it has no other choice than to pick the other one that I've left for it as an option (my wired headphones, in my case).
I can highly recommend using ALSA over pulseaudio. You can also blacklist devices that try to grab audio when there is more than one source, the biggest culprit being HDMI.
Take your time and read through this Tutorial post I wrote about how to get SoundBlaster Audigy Rx working:

Depending on Your used Theme, it cn be a bit hard to see if it is marked or not, which I find annpying to be honest. But when it is active, the Audio will go trough that chosen Device.
And if You should only use one Output from Your Machine, You can turn off the not used one's in the Configuration Tab like @applecheeks37 is showing on his Picture (chhose the ''Off'' Entry).
