Dell Inspiron 1525 install issues

Greetings all,

Trying to install Zorin 18 Pro on a dell Inspiron 1525. Have issues with the display going black and then coming back. Also it is really struggling trying to open the "power settings".

Also no sound

So, this:

happens in Live Mode? Or is Zorin already installed there?

Tired to but it keeps locking up and then the program crashes. I installed the updates . Just installed Zorin all by its self.

inspiron 1525 is old intel gear so the black flicker + power settings crash + no sound is pretty common on newer zorin.

for sound paste:
lspci -nn | grep -i audio
then try:
sudo apt install sof-firmware alsa-firmware-loaders

for the flicker, at the login screen pick the gear and try Xorg instead of Wayland (or the other way around).

for power settings locking up:
journalctl -b -p err | tail -40

paste those and we can narrow it.

So, the Installation doesn't work ...

Some Points:

  • Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled?
  • If Windows is still installed: Is Fast Start-Up in Windows disabled?
  • Did You checked the Checksum of the ISO?
  • What Tool did You use to create the Bootstick?
  • Did You tried it with an Offline Installation? I mean without an Internet Connection.
