You might check with the following in terminal:
sudo apt-get install smartmontools
sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda
The short of it is, the SMART monitor is reading nobad sectors, but is suggesting that your HDD is failing.

Personally, I've found "Disks" - Gnome Disks - to be lacking info' in certain cases. I get much better information using "GSmartControl".
