I am as confused by this as you are.
Perhaps you can test it with a different aac video to test it to check if it is just This Video that is troublesome?

I think you were using Totem before trying VLC. I read somewhere at some time that Totem struggles with MP4. There are many different video players available on Linux. Perhaps you could test a few out and see which one works the best?

I have used Xine player and was happy with it. On Zorin Lite, I use Parole.
There is also Mplayer and SMplayer as well as many others.
I understand that it is tedious, but having tested with VLC, please try a few players and see if you can narrow down the best performance.

If it helps, I use VLC (installed from Synaptic) (most of what I watch is h.264) but rarely have to switch to Totem.
