Hello
I wish to install Zorin onto an external SSD.
The SSD is partitioned into two 111Gb partitions. The first partition contains Linux Mint and the second partition is unallocated.
My PC is set up for Legacy BIOS. Possibly in the future I may change to EFI and install Win 11 on my main HDD. At present I use Win 10.
To boot into Linux Mint I plug in the SSD to a USB hub and change the boot to the SSD when booting.
I wish to install Zorin onto the SSD in parallel with Mint for a dual boot.
Is it as simple as running the install for Zorin, tellng the install to use the unallocated partition, tell the install to install Grub onto the SSD and relying on the install procedure to change Grub to allow the dual boot ?
Or is it not that simple ?
If I did change to EFI how would that affect the external SSD arrangement ?
Any advice gratefully received.
It is that simple.
If you change to EFI, you will need to create an EFI partition, then install the bootloaders to it. That is a more complex process. We can take it step by step in this forum.

Is your external hard disk currently set up in MBR format? If you are planning to switch to EFI, you can only boot from it if you activate CSM or reinstall both operating systems on the external hard disk and select the GPT format when creating the boot sticks.
