Easiest way to run Office 365 on Linux?

I'm playing with Office365 on a Windows machine and I'm impressed with its spell checker, synonym dictionary etc.
If I want to install Office365 on Linux what would you suggest? Dual boot is out of the question and I will like avoid install Windows if possible.
Have any of you successfully installed it?

I know Outlook365 runs in a browser, what about the rest? I hated the Browser version of Outlook as no notification sound. Outlook365 accounts run fine in Evolution.

I guess, You have to use WINE or Bottles then. Or WinBoat. I don't know if You're in a Hurry but if not, You could test these Options to see what works the best Way for You.

office.com in the browser is the least painful in my experience if you mostly need word/excel online. for desktop-ish, people bounce between bottles/wine and just using onlyoffice or libre with onedrive sync. i never got the full 365 desktop suite happy under wine, too flaky. what do you actually need day to day, word docs or the outlook client?

Word. I'm an Author, and it will make my life and my editors life so much easier if I have Office365.

ah if its mainly Word for you + editors, office.com Word in the browser is probably still the least drama path in my experience. keeps the real .docx roundtrip and comments/track changes mostly intact.

desktop-ish options ive seen people try:

  • Word online + OneDrive, just live there
  • OnlyOffice desktop synced to OneDrive (good enough for a lot of authors, not 100% feature parity)
  • Bottles/WinBoat with the Windows Word installer if you really need desktop Word UI, but its hit or miss

i wouldnt chase full Office 365 desktop under wine for writing work, too many little breakages. if your editors insist on Word features specifically, browser Word is what id stick with. shrug
