Endless Sky on Heroic

Hi there. I installed Endless Sky on Steam and it worked wonderfully. Then I removed it and installed the GoG Linux version on Heroic (to have all games in one place) and now it won't start at all. Can someone please instruct me how to get past this?

I include the last launch log (from here to the end):

Cannot mount AppImage, please check your FUSE setup.
You might still be able to extract the contents of this AppImage
if you run it with the --appimage-extract option.
See FUSE · AppImage/AppImageKit Wiki · GitHub
for more information
Launch command: ['/app/bin/gamemoderun', '/home/kosenator/Games/Heroic/Endless Sky/start.sh']

I have confirmed FUSE is on (FUSE2). Apparently it is dangerous to install FUSE (original), and I am unsure about installing FUSE3.

Meanwhile I reinstalled ES on Steam, but I would love to have it all on one launcher. Will it help to uninstall Heroic Flatpack and install it via AppImage? And will I need to reinstall everything I currently have on it?

You could try instead of the Flatpak or AppImage the offered .deb Version from here:

From the log it looks like a FUSE issue - the AppImage can’t mount, probably due to missing permissions or support on the system. I’d check if FUSE is installed properly and whether you have access to fusermount.

Interesting. I mentioned above that I have ensured FUSE in installed (FUSE2, apparently installing FUSE original can be dangerous to the system), but this is the first I see of fusermount. Please enlighten me about that?

The more weird Thing for me is:

but at the End it says:

But You use the Flatpak. Of Course then it can't mount any AppImage because You don't use one.

Which is why I removed Heroic Flatpack and am now working up the courage to frustrate myself with the .Deb installation.

Installing a .deb File isn't so difficult. You could simply make a Double-click on it. then Gnome Software will open; that is the Interface for installing it. There is an Install Button where You click on.

Alternatively, You could use Gdebi. That is a little Tool to install .deb Files.

Or, You can use the Terminal to install a .deb File.

I like KISS-ing. I'm going to check out Gdebi.

You can find it in Gnome Software or install it in the Terminal with sudo apt install gdebi

I only buy and run games from Steam. With the inclusion of Proton, most games will launch and run. I've used Steam since Half Life 2 was released, and I don't like getting into the mud, messing with other launchers, because of stuff like you are experiencing.
