Epson Scanner on PlayOnLinux

So I just tried to install play on linux to see if I can get a .exe file to install. Its for a windows driver to an epson scanner. Whenever I click the file to run, it looks like its about to and even though my wifi is working just fine, I get an error message that the file can not connect to the internet!!! UHHHHH!!!

Just moved these posts to a new thread.

You don't need to use WINE. I recently had a request to move from Windows to Linux. They have an Epson ET-3950 which has Linux drivers. It installs Linux version of Epson Scan2.

Thanks for the reply! So where do I get this driver? I wonder if it will run this little scanner all the same. By now I think I have made a mess of my system trying to outguess this problem. Should I remove wine? I don't really understand it. When I pull up bottles, it's not as easy to run through as its made to appear. In fact I can't get anything installed.

What is the name / model of your scanner?

Epson ES-50

Try that one from Epson homepage (the first one: Epson Scan2):

https://download-center.epson.com/softwares/?device_id=ES-50&region=DE&os=DEBX64&language=en

After download unzip the tar.gz file and then doubleclick on the deb file to open it. Then right-click on an empty space there and select "open in terminal".
Then enter in terminal

./install.sh

Now you can start epson scan 2 from start menu.

Thanks for that simple set of instruction! Very appretiated especially since I'm heavily doubting myself these days with this latest complication. The attachment is a screenshot after I downloaded that file again ( I have downloaded that several times and hasn't yet worked) showing a greyed out "next" button that doesn't let me move forward. It seems like the terminal command may have done something but while my scanner is plugged in -nothing seems to happen just yet. ( i will try rebooting now)- In the meantime- my attempt at installing Winboat is still looping around here wasting money in electricity.

That looks good. Now click on your start menu and enter epson.

WOW ! Thanks!! My scanner was plugged into one USB port that for some unknown reason doesn't connect. I reconnected with another port and NOW it seems to work! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

NOW- If I could have another small victory and figure out what the hell is going on with my attempt to install WInboat - Like I said, I wonder if my os now is all messed up because of how many times I have tried to outguess the trouble I'm having despite the online research.
