Error opening steam

Hello everyone,
i am relativly new to zorin and so far it has been great. However out of the blue the following error message appears when I try to open it:

You are missing the following 32-bit libraries, and Steam may not run:
libgtk-x11-2.0.so.

I tried
sudo apt install libgtk2.0-0
and it appears libgtk-x11-2.0.so. already exists in the latest version.
When i try to locate it, it also seems to be there.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help is dearly appreciated. Also I really have no idea what is going, so please try to keep your answers simple.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello,

Did it work before?
Is the Steam package from the repository (.deb) or from Steam web site (.deb)?

Thank you storm for the quick reply. Yes it was working perfectly fine and then suddenly stopped. I am not aware of any changes I made.
The Steam package is from the repository.

Welcome to the Forum!

It is installed as Flatpak not as .deb/APT:

I think this is what was @Storm about. I would suggest to try the .deb Version - but uninstall the Flatpak Version before. You can download it directly from Steam:

Preferably, just run in terminal (after uninstalling the Flatpak version):

sudo apt install steam

as the direct and easier method.

Great! Thank you very much, its working again.
My apologies for the misunderstand about flatpak / .deb. I am pretty new to this.
All the best!
