Edit: To clarify, it's from zorin 17.3 core to zorin 18 core. I'm aware this is the testing stage, so consider me a tester I guess : p
Did you made a BackUp? Have You prepared a bootable USB Stick with Zorin on it?
Did You had any Third-Party Repos added? Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled?
No backup but that's fine, I just wanted to see if this could work because I'd rather not clean install.
I can prepare a bootable stick with my other computer.
Secure boot is disabled. I can't find any fast boot options where there should be.
Third party repos? Probably? Unsure.
In your repairing packages portion, it states it's not able to fetch the packages. I would wager this may be because your wireless on your laptop isn't functioning at that point in time with the system. Would you be able to plug in via ethernet (or USB sharing internet with a cell phone) in order to get a physical connection to an internet source? Just to see if repairing with a physical connection can get you up and running again.
Even if you have third party repos, I would like to imagine the updater should warn of such things, and ask you to disable them (or in an ideal world, give the option to disable for you, then deal with them after the upgrade is complete). I usually go through a manual install of a newer version rather than the upgrade personally, but they do say this is still technically the testing phase.
I had the Oops Something went wrong screen twice trying to upgrade from 17 Pro to 18 Pro. On the third and later attempts, it loaded to a Thunderbird, Deja Cup and Rambox screen and froze
Recuezilla loads, but I have no way of choosing options, like Restore, as mouse and keyboard don't do anything.
Think I'll have to reinstall 17 Pro on Ventoy, then hope to find my Time shift and Deja Duo backups.
Good idea? I'm a newbie, so advice will be accepted ![]()
Sharing internet with phone+usb didn't work.
Agreed on the second point
Another user had the similar experience and they have shared a solution you may try it too:
Thank you so much! That worked exactly as described.
