''Fake'' Linus tries Linux again [Update: Now with the End. Is it good, is it bad? Something between?]

I completely agree!

His attempts at using Linux, have only anything to do, with entertainment. Most PC users, gamers, and LTT viewers, obviously use Windows, and have never used Linux a day in their lives. They wouldn't know how to install Linux, let alone config it in Terminal, and make use of Linux as their daily driver. Make no mistake, Linus is not going to use Linux at both home and work the rest of their lives. Besides, much of the software they use, can only run on Windows. Try to get Adobe products to work on Linux, you'll see what I mean.

And don't forget about Linus's private jet stunt, that turned many fans away from him after that. Its all about views now, because he's a multi-millionaire, who owns a private jet, and several houses now. He's got to keep the views up, keep people buying his merch, and keep his sponsors happy, or that life goes away. Linus is a hypocrite, everybody knows it, why should I take him seriously on anything?

I honestly think that Luke is more down to earth guy, and he earns my respect, where as Linus lost it.

Yeah, the older I get, the more forgiving I find myself becoming. Yes, he's doing all this for money, and much of what he does shouldn't be taken seriously. That said, there are worse people in the world making money in much more sinister and destructive ways. I'm glad I learned to ignore people who chase money in a sort of 'harmless' way.

The next Episode in this History:

2 Things here:

The Auto Mount Thing. I would agree here for a better Integration. I mean, yes. You have (graphical) Options to make that. But having this as an Option in the Right-Click Menu for Example could be a nice Thing to have.

Elijah and GParted. That was an interesting one. I guess, You People saw the actual Problem there: The Icons in Combination with the Theme. It was a light Theme and light Icons. So, he simply didn't got the actual Buttons. I have the same Issue:

Have tested PopOS two years ago, also on my Acer gaming laptop. Pieces of the UI was unstable, so crashing was more likely as ever seen before. So / was formatted and installed with Zorin-17, installed games survived on a /games partition.
Taking 'gaming distros' under the microscope, we see an up to date Mesa stable, a gaming kernel and gaming mode. On my two machines for gaming i added the PPA from ErnstP (mesarc) and damentz for the Liquorix gaming kernel. So my Zorin is on these machines is a "gaming distro" now

Such videos give me the 'scissor in the head' feeling. When replacing solid and stable distributions with newest hot bummers for one FPS more. The gamers make the install anew dance, instead of tinkering a rock solid environment for their games.
Maybe i'm to old for the format-c thing every week

What I like about the Linux challenge, is their honesty. Yes, there are ways to get around some of the issues, and I guess AI does help in some ways, in the searches for how to do things. There is some things however, that can never be done on Linux, unless its in the specific distro people are using. Linus & Luke went over that very thing, on why they picked certain distros.

As with everything else, there is pluses and minus's to Linux, its never been a perfect solution, but its better then Windows. People are waking up to that since the drop of Win10 support. There are more Linux users today, then their ever has been, in history!

I just watched Chris Titus and Brodie Robertson's react-videos. I really appreciate what the LTT team is doing, what they're trying to achieve is pretty genuine and close to my own experiences. Really enjoyed watching both Chris and Brodie react, especially their honesty ... ... .... Windows Vista is different to Windows 11, there is a huge learning curve, just as there is from Windows to Mac, and either of those to Ubuntu, or Manjaro, whatever. I love that LTT is bringing the reality for people like me to get into Linux and have real expectations.

Have you tried WinPodX or WinBoat?
I personally never got WinBoat working, but WinPodX works for the one software I still need that is Windows & Mac based.

I haven't heard of either but I will check them out, thank you for the suggestions.

Now the final Talk:

I was surprised. One Thing, what Linus mentioned, is actually an interesting Point: Software for Mice and Keyboards. This Stuff with that You can set up these Stuff. there Manufacturers could bring Efforts in.

I really appreciated the experiment and the videos. I resonate with a lot of what they had to say, even though I'm not a gamer. I also loved that a lot of fans and follwers took up the challenge too - that is pretty impressive. Overall, I think it was an honest experiment.
