I have Zorin 18 on three machines, a 16 year old HP laptop, 12 year old Asus Laptop, and a 10 year old Lenovo Desktop. All three machines are set up, as near as I can tell, identically. I set wine for win XP on all three and installed Family Tree Maker 2012, which they say will not work. I had installed a research program on all three and got it to work fine and figured, try FTM. It works wonderfully on the HP and the Asus but, even though it appeared to install perfectly, will not launch. I've tried modify, uninstall/reinstall, wine shows it's there but . . . . I'm stuck, anyone have any ideas?
On your Lenovo, if you launch it using the terminal, does it relay verbose output that describes the silent launch failure?

Does the System ru in Wayland or X11? You can check that with the Terminal Command echo $XDG-SESSION_TYPE
Lost me there, I don't use terminal to run any of my programs. I was thinking I forgot to put in that I run all three machines on zorin 18; clean install, not upgraded.
