I'm working on an Asus G752V laptop and I'm trying to find a fan controller to control the fans since the cpu/gpu are getting hot while the fans sit at 200rpm. I tried the Fan-Controller flatpak, but it wouldn't control fans, it would just tell me what they were doing. Followed the in app instructions for the sudo controls but it still wouldn't let me control the fans, only monitor.

Again kind sir for your info .... I have been looking for an apt to try and regulate my fans .... tried various ones but they only show the temp and no way for me to increase my fan speed when gaming .... not sure if this one will do that but at least I can look at the graft to see any changes being made ..... I have yet to try it while gaming but maybe later today .....
I noticed that under the CPU and GPU fan it says read only ..... does that mean I can't regulate the speed myself ?? ....
You can also try LACT.

Hi @Frog I would just be mindful that the author states that it may not work on all devices and they list the three they had success with.
I was a bit curious about liqdctl - I am making an assumption that this refers to machines like desktops that have liquid cooling? The other bit is kernels are needed that have certain controls embedded in them just briefly reading through.
I can onnly control Tower fans via BIOS on my ASUS nmotherboard. I would not be able to use anything with 'ctl' in its commands as it infers the presence of systemd. And no, I don't have liquid cooling, just Noctua on the CPU. I don't have an overpowered gaming rig.

I have a Lenovo P53 with hybrid GPU intel / Nvidia.
The fan went like "crazy" at the beginning and i couldn’t find out solutions, from bios, apps, etc.
This happen mostly after plugging the battery, but most of the modern desktop environment (Gnome in the case of Zorin) allow us to "manage" energy from applet, menu, it's called "power profile i guess in English ;
(mode de puissance > Ă©conomie d'Ă©nergie from screenshot below).
So, this is how i manage mine, after few minutes of plugin, i switch from power profile, then fans goes more quiet, then goes to balance itself ...
I am not sure if "power profile" is available for any computers.
This shows what it controls seems it looks at all the sensors is only part of whats needed lact and coolercontrol both use and need this
Still checking it out but so far I've learned that the Asus ROG Gaming Laptops support CoolerControl but will let you know more later .... still tinkering .... LOL
