File Manager - stopped responding v18 Pro

Hi there, no so small a bug I've come across recently. I thought that I had mis-clicked, but now I'm sure there is a problem.

Even Right-clicking the 'files' icon on the dash, and clicking "Quit" does not close the 'not responding' window. The top option in the right-click list of "new window" does not work either.

This warning box is hidden unless you use the magic button. An the white stripe appears then as well.

P.S. I think I will go back to 17 pro until things change.

Is this a recurring issue, like can you reproduce it consistently?

There's a System Monitor in the applications menu that you can use to terminate programs just like in Windows' Task Manager.

Note that the file manager is called "Nautilus". I'd recommend using the "Terminate" option first, which is a little gentler in asking the program to shut down. If that doesn't work, then use "Kill".

Hi there, thanks for your reply.
Yep, it is reoccurring, but I can't get it to order (unlike the white stripe thing).
I understand about the terminal 'kill' option.

This was the third weird thing that shouldn't be happening, so I've gone back to 17.3. Pro. with the xfce desktop. Not as shiny but very zappy quick.

Well, that is certainly also an option  Zorin OS 17 is still supported until 2027. Maybe when the Lite version for Z18 is released you can give it a try as well.

Another option here would've been to install Thunar which is the file manager used in the Lite version, instead of Nautilus.

You can also set xkill as a keyboard shortcut on this (I use ctl+alt+k) since Z17 Lite is on Xorg.
