Fingerprint reader doesn't work

Hi,

I’m using Zorin OS 18 on a Lenovo ThinkBook 15 IIL.

My fingerprint sensor is detected in lsusb as:
27c6:55a4 Goodix Fingerprint Device

However, fprintd gives:
"No devices available"

Is this sensor supported in Zorin OS / libfprint, or is there any workaround or driver?

Hi and welcome.

Having done a search there is an experimental package for the ':55b4' but nothing for the ':55a4'.

I think your only option if it is crucial that you have one is to purchase dedicated fingerprint reader that is compatible with the Linux kernel, but not cheap:

I found no reports that this fingerprint reader worked in Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04

thanks for the help... its a bit annoying that it doesnt work, i ve recently fully moved to linux, im still a begginer but i really like zorin os, i ve had enough with microslop :))) anyway, im waiting maybe in the future they ll make something available for my sensor too
