Yes, in fact someone recently asked a similar question. The only major difference is in whether or not to also pin it to the panel:

While this is a 9 year old thread, the option of using a Desktop Entry launcher should work, as outlined in answer 17: You can use line OnlyShowIn=GNOME; as Unity is not applicable.
