First Install. Smooth Process

Just thought I'd share my experience on my very first install of Zorin.

First, the machine: Dell Optiplex 3020 upgraded to E3 1270 V3 with 4GB of ram and an old reliable Radeon HD 7500 series.

Hard drive originally had only Windows 10 with four paritions: Recovery, Boot Partition, Unknown Windows partition and the main Windows. I shrunk the main Windows partition and installed Lubuntu and created a folder for Puppy Linux on the newly created space. Had this setup for a while but I wanted to give Zorin a try. So, I deleted all Lubuntu files and folders but kept the Puppy Linux and installed Zorin. Didn't re-format the partition. Just did a straight Zorin install. Installation went smoothly with no hicups and it detected Windows 10. Not the Puppies which I already expected. Booted it the first time, edited /etc/grub.d/40_custom and added entries for puppy linux then update-grub. Now, I can boot Zorin, Windows and Puppy. All of these and didn't hit a snag

Performance: Considering the pc is old and the hard drive is the old HD with moving parts, I am quite honestly surprised on how fast it is. And once I have the SSD, I'm sure it will be even faster.

I love the clean look and it's a bonus to have the compiz wobbly effect. Can't wait to do more testing. Is Brave browser supported by major institutions.

Loving it so far. :+1:

Glad to hear you're enjoying it so far  Is this a question? Sorry, just couldn't really tell at the end there. I suppose that would depend on the institution in question? For instance, where I work strictly supports only chrome and edge, although others may support everything.

@applecheeks37 - Thanks. It's a general question I have in mind for myself and everyone else. I was worried I will get a "your browser is not supported" but when I tried to login to my bank accout, since I do everything online banking, it connected just fine without any warning. So, so far so good.

Oh, and I love the games that came with the OS. It helps get your mind out of daily life routine while keeping your brain active and having fun. Love gbrainy

Since it's based on Chromium, I have a feeling it should work with most places, including those that are strict on which browsers they support. Do let us know if you come across a site that doesn't support Brave. It would be interesting to know.

I am glad to hear you had a wonderful time installing Zorin OS, and setting it up how you like it best. Sounds like you let out the puppies and scared Windows off. I am also impressed with your knowledge on customizing GRUB, thats advance level thinking, which earns you 5 :star2: :star2: :star2: :star2: :star2: gold power stars from me.

I know right? I love those games too, its good to keep your mind active. I also play games on Steam as well. Continue to have fun!

Thanks @StarTreker - If I'll be honest, I like using Puppy Linux grub2config grub installer. It's so much easier to make changes. Just edit grub.cfg directly and save the text file. That's it. No need to run update-grub. So, I reinstalled Puppy's grub bootloader. Don't worry. Still have Zorin installed and testing
