Being visually impaired I am routinely aggravated by the belief that Windows and Linux OS's and many program/app developers have which results in them designing software on the assumption that I bought a 81cm screen but that I would only ever use about one quarter of that. No I bought the 81cm monitor because I need the full area of the screen.
One of the great things about Zorin is that it includes fractional sizing of what I will refer to as default displays. Magic for me. The problem is that some programs are then too big for the screen so I need to drop from 300% to 200% to use them. A needless hassle that I hope can be fixed. The bigger problem is that I can not find any information on how to automatically open each program full size (as opposed to full screen).
While programs like Nemo, Software, Firefox and Textmaker always open as I need them to far too many programs like DoubleCommander open 1/4 size every time. In Windows this can be corrected by making the program full size using the box/arrows in the top right corner then closing the program while simultaneously holding down the control key. Some Linux programs follow that protocol but many do not.
What is the procedure to ensure that programs always open full size in Zorin?
Will this also make programs that are oversized open full size in Zorin?
When you enter extension in the search field of your start menu, is the extension manager shown then?
Over the past few days, there have been some ubuntu server outages and issues with extremely slow downloads; there may still be some problems. Normally, the Extension Manager appears in the start menu immediately after the installation (without a reboot) when you search for it.
Can you please check if everything is running well by entering
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
in the terminal? Please post a screenshot when you get errors. When you are asked if you want to install the updates confirm with yes.
I'm not sure if I have understood you correctly. Do you have problems to find and open the extension manager or the "One Window Wonderland" gnome extension?
The installed Gnome extensions are not displayed in the software app but at tab "installed" in the extension manager. You can select the installed extensions and enable/disable it there or change settings by clicking on the cog wheal.
Just had a look at the extension page. Did you download the correct version?
Each number matches the Gnome Shell in use and if memory serves, Zorin 18 uses Gnome 46.
When you install the extension with the extension manager the right gnome version is automatically selected. There is no field to select a gnome version.
I had problems to find and open the extension manager and it did not load when I did the " ```
sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-manager
I still can not find the extension manager but typing extension in the start menu showed this so I guess it was not installed. Colour me embarrassed

.
I now see the "One Window Wonderland" and that it has an options menu so I will need to play with that.
There are also a "gazillion" other options to research.
Thank you
