Can you access the grub menu?
If so, you could add "nomodeset" as a boot parameter.
To access the grub menu, you must press the following key in quick succession after switching on: For UEFI Bios esc (or on some machines tab), for legacy Bios the left shift key.

There may be times that a user must add a specialized grub parameter in order to overcome an issue. The purpose of this guide is not to provide parameters, as that would be a case by case basis. It is to provide a guide on how to add one.
