Hard drives in Windows Virtual Machine

Hi everyone
I'm a new user on this forum, and new user of Linux too.
I don't know if I send this post at the good place. If not, please tell me.

After about 35 years using Windows (Windows 3.1 at the beginning), I'm moving to Zorin Core 18. And for the moment, I'm very satisfied.
My configuration is :

  • AMD Athlon Silver 3050U with Radeon™ Graphics × 2
  • RAM 16,0 Gio
  • 3 drives : nvme0n1 250 Gio (Zorin) / sda 250 Gio (Windows) / sdb 700 Gio (Personal data)
For the moment, I'm using a dual-boot. I need to use Windows for some apps which don't work with Linux and have no alternatives. So I have installed Windows in a virtual machine QEMU/KVM. And it works fine. In a close future, I'll give up the dual-boot to keep only Zorin.
Here is my problem. My 2 sata hard drives (sda and sdb), USB drives and NAS drives are correctly mounted and usable with Zorin.
But in my Windows virtual machine, they are not visible. I'd like to access to my personal data.
Is it a normal situation ? My virtual machine configuration is not good ?
Well, I've searched an answer and a solution in this forum, but I did'nt find.
    Could you help me ?
Thank you very much. I think I'll have other questions in the future !

PS : Please apologize for my english

Welcome to the Forum!

Only to be clear: You have Windows installed on a Drive and as a Virtual Machine, yes?

For the Virtual Machine it could be that there have to a Setting to get Acess to the Drives.

Thank you for your answer. I will look in the settings of the VM.
Yes, I have windows on a drive AND as a virtual machine.
I wanted to keep windows on a drive with a dual-boot, before being sure that it works perfectly in a virtual machine.
Now, I know the virtual machine works as I wanted. So I will soon remove the dual-boot to keep only Zorin.

I didn't found anything in the settings of KVM about SATA, USB or NAS drives which don't appear in the windows file manager ...
Nobody has a solution ?

Did You tried a different VM like VirtualBox or Gnome Boxes?

Hi
Well, I've just tried Machines (Gnome Boxes).
Error "Something went wrong. No KVM !"
After many searches and tutos (https://bobcares.com/blog/how-to-fix-no-kvm-error-in-gnome-boxes), all seems OK (virtualization enabled in the BIOS, drivers installed ...)

With Virtualbox, I get this message :
VD: Backend 'VBoxIsoMaker' does not support async I/O (VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED).
VirtualBox can't enable the AMD-V extension. Please disable the KVM kernel extension, recompile your kernel and reboot (VERR_SVM_IN_USE).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0X80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {6ac83d89-6ee7-4e33-8ae6-b257b2e81be8}

I'd really like to use Windows with a virtual machine in Zorin instead with a dual-boot. I'm starting to despair !!!

Hello
I also tried VirtualBox. My problem is the same : SATA, USB and NAS drives not visibles in the Windows virtual machine.
Please help !!!
