Main problem is locking up after machine has blanked screen after 30 mins which I set.
Yesterday I discovered my LCD monitor supports 75hz so I changed from 60hz to 75hz in display settings.
Today I come to use the machine, moved the mouse but the power led on the monitor starts blinking which means the refresh is too high (connected via DVI-D) to a Nvidia GT-710.
Had to hard reboot as there was no way to get a display. After reboot all is fine so I change the refresh back to 60hz and try a few locks and wakes of the screen manually - all seems ok.
Any ideas why changing to a supported refresh would cause this behaviour. Also trying to change the driver in settings comes up with a big red exclamation mark and reverts to the 470 nvidia driver. Ideas?
From memory I think I had an nvidia GT-710 and could not get Zorin 16 to run on it so upgraded to a GT-1030 from Zotac. The other element is that if you are using nVidia proprietary drivers, this can sometimes cause issues. For me I always use the opensource nouveau drivers, as I never get a satisfactory experience with any of nvidia's proprietary drivers.
Unfortunately the Nouveau driver crashes randomly on boot so had to switch to nvidia 470 as it just wasn't reliable boot. Any other ideas?
So I have been looking at other Nvidia drivers, 390, 418 and 450. Anyone recommend one to test with Zorin Lite 17.1. 470 has been updated in June 24 so may have introduced bugs.
Hi, I think this askubuntu thread may help you. I suspect you are suffering from Wayland woes which is the default compositor used at login.
Before following the editing the .conf file you can switch to Zorin on xorg at login before you enter your password a cog appears to lower right of screen. Click on cog and change to Zorin on xorg.
