Hello, am new to Linux, everything worked fine when i installed Zorin Os on my laptop but when i plug it using HDMI to the TV the sound doesn't work
I fiddled around with the output configurations on the sound setting and on the pulse audio volume control and made sure that i was outputing to the tv but still no audio, the laptop speakers works fine and also the headphones (wired and wireless), i also changed the ports and used other hdmi cables but still no success, if anyone here had the same issue and was able to solve it please reply.
Just out of curiousity, does the sounds output options list the HDMI connection as an available audio device, or is it not listed at all? And also, if this is a new install, if you could run in terminal
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
Then restart after that successfully runs, would be a good start. Sometimes things are just screwy from time to time and an update / reboot fixes things right up. Not saying that this is the absolute case, but it doesn't hurt to run.
yes it is listed, when i plug the hdmi cable i can switch between the laptop's audio and the hdmi audio.
I did run the update & upgrade command and it updated some packages but it didn't solve the issue.
I also used alsamixer in the terminal to list all the sound cards and audio devices [F6] and i was able to configure the laptop's audio but i can't access the hdmi audio settings, it is just listed there.
